We're Hiring a Program Manager!


The Program Manager is responsible for ArtStarts Gallery exhibitions and programs and professional learning experiences for artists and educators. Reporting to the Director of Programs, the Program Manager will collaborate with artists, educators, and community members to champion the value of arts in education. The Program Manager works closely with a full time Program Coordinator and is responsible for managing a part time Gallery Coordinator. 


Arts Integration: working with young people and community. 

  • Manage the curatorial process to create two ArtStarts Gallery exhibitions annually that demonstrate the value of arts integration as an approach to learning. 
  • Manage the process of exhibition strike and install.
  • Attend Artist in the Classroom (AIC) jury meetings, visit AIC projects in the field, attend school performances to inform and inspire the creative vision of Gallery exhibitions and programs.
  • Support the Communications Manager by providing content to use in marketing materials and with strategies to promote Gallery events and activities with target audiences.

Arts Integration: working with artists and educators.

  • Collaborate with teaching artists and external facilitators to deliver professional learning experiences including initiatives such as the Learning Lab and Summer Camp.
  • Nurture relationships with artists, educators and organizations who are invested in the concept of arts integration and arts based pedagogy.
  • Keep at the forefront of research on the value of arts in education.
  • Attend and present at discussions, gatherings and conferences related to art and education.
  • Support the Communications Manager by providing content to use in marketing materials.


To excel in this role you will have:

  • Post secondary training and work experience in the field of art and education.
  • An active creative practice and commitment to lifelong learning. 
  • Experience in a curatorial capacity.
  • Understanding of school culture and the revised BC curriculum.
  • An ability to design and facilitate arts based experiences for young people and adults.
  • Experience engaging and working with culturally diverse communities.
  • The ability to balance creativity and administrative efficiency. 
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

This is a regular full-time position (35 hours/week) with a salary range of $48,000 – $55,000. Additional benefits include three weeks of vacation, a professional development allowance and extended health benefits.
