What are Arts Integration Learning Labs?

What are Arts Integration Learning Labs?

Taking place in various regions around BC, Arts Integration Learning Labs are experiential learning series for artists interested in working with young people and educators in schools.

The Arts Integration Learning Lab is an opportunity to work with experienced professional teaching artists to build your capacity and work alongside educators in schools to provide engaging arts-based learning for BC's young people.

Artists selected to participate will be fully subsidized to tuition to attend five days of interactive workshops. program materials and lunch each day. In some cases, travel and accommodation may also be subsidized.

Indigenous artists in BC working in all discplines—visual arts, music, dance, theatre, storytelling and more—will take part in the Arts Integration Learning Lab: Indigenous Artists Edition, October 23-27, 2017, a learning series designed to identify the complex relationship between education and decolonization through the perspectives of Indigenous artists.

What is Arts Integration?

We use the definition of arts integration developed by The Kennedy Center:

Arts Integration is an approach to teaching in which students construct and demonstrate understanding through an art form. Students engage in a creative process which connects an art form and another subject area and meets evolving objectives in both.
