Last week, the ArtStarts office was a-buzz as the Give with Target campaign kicked off. Target will open stores in Canada in 2013, and they wanted to give back to communities across the country by donating $1 million to Canadian non-profit organizations.
How those funds were distributed was up to you. On Facebook, people were invited to vote once a day for a cause of their choice—Active Play, Education, Food, or the Arts—and support one of six organizations—YMCA, Food Banks Canada, First Book Canada, Pathways to Education, ArtsSmarts and ArtStarts.
For each click, an organization received $100 from Target, and people were encouraged to share what inspired them to vote for a cause.
The campaign attracted over 8,000 participants and Target reached their $1 million goal in just 3 days.
On behalf of ArtStarts staff, board, volunteers and artists, we would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who voted for the Arts and supported ArtStarts.
We’re thrilled to announce that, because of your votes, the Arts category was funded a total of $154,200! Votes for the Arts from BC were directed to ArtStarts, and we received approximately 40% of the clicks. We are honoured to have so much support in our community.

Thanks again to Target for this opportunity, and to everyone who showed your support of the Arts through clicks and comments. Your support will help bring art and creativity into young lives!
