For more than 25 years, the
Artists in Education funding program has supported
the arts in schools right across BC by providing matching
funds for performances, workshops and residencies.
AIE has introduced hundreds of thousands of children
and youth to traditional and cultural events in a
multidisciplinary range of dance, theatre, music,
literary, media and visual arts.
GRANTS TO SCHOOLS FOR ARTISTS RESIDENCIES
Deadlines: June 6 & October 10,
2008
This grant (Artists in Education
- Component 2) supports individual schools across
BC to bring professional artists into their classrooms
for a wide range of curriculum-integrated arts programs
including workshops and long-term residencies. The
selection of awards is determined by a committee based
on the eligibility and merit of the artists and arts
activities proposed by the schools.
The application form
The grant application is available as a pdf or a .doc
file. We prefer that you word-process and email us
your application form with a scanned and inserted
signature. You may also fax or mail it to us. Please
ensure you read the guidelines before filling in the
application form. You may also want to browse
through last year's project list, read tips on how
to create a successful residency or how to write a
grant application. All these measures will increase
your chances of receiving funding.
Successful applications
Successful applications are student-centred projects
that offer young people opportunities to deepen their
learning, expand their understanding of the world
and make meaning in new ways.
Working with some of the most
celebrated and respected professional artists in BC,
AIE facilitates students’ access to artistic
excellence. Through performances, workshops and residencies,
study guides, and teacher participation, this remarkable
program brings professional artistic activities to
remote, rural and urban schools, providing arts opportunities,
exposure and resources for learners, teachers and
artists throughout the province.
