For more than
25 years, the Artists in Education funding program
has supported the arts in schools right across the
province by providing matching funds for performances,
workshops and residencies. AIE has introduced hundreds
of thousands of children and youth to traditional
and cultural events in a multidisciplinary range of
dance, theatre, music, literary, media and visual
arts.
GRANTS TO DISTRICTS
and province-wide School Associations
This component is designed to support a
wide range of arts activities throughout all of BC’s
districts and associations. Open to all BC School
Districts, the Federation of Independent School Associations
and the First Nations Schools Association, the annual
allocation of funding is determined through a formula
based on the number of schools, number of students
and a distance code assigned to each district or association.
Working with some of the most
celebrated and respected professional artists in BC,
AIE facilitates students’ access to artistic
excellence. Through performances, workshops and residencies,
study guides, and teacher participation, this remarkable
program brings professional artistic activities to
remote, rural and urban schools, providing arts opportunities,
exposure and resources for learners, teachers and
artists throughout the province.
