This pan-provincial exhibition features work from
Vancouver to Vanderhoof created through the Artists
in Education residency program. Highlights include
a vibrant felt mural from Chetwynd; textile banners
reflecting students' rural roots from Nakusp and
a 24-foot, 800-lb dugout canoe carved out of a 100-year-old
cottonwood tree from a First Nations school in Penticton.

Footprints
June 2 to August 29, 2008
Ten Lower Mainland high school classrooms worked
with artists to turn a critical eye towards environmental
issues. Blending their investigation of the green
movement and with an arsenal of new art techniques,
students created large-scale 2 and 3-D representations
and installations of their ideas. Footprints will
also show in the Grand Court at Metropolis at Metrotown
from May 12 to 25.

People in
our Neighbourhood
September 22 to December 19
This heartwarming exploration of community is revealed
through a series of portraits created by young people
from Vancouver to Wells using paint, printmaking
and clay. Inner city students in Vancouver got to
know the people they meet each day through interviews
and photography culminating in vivid large acrylic
portraits while students in the tiny town of Wells
created whimsical silk-screened T-shirts reflecting
the local people, flora and fauna. A wall of clay
masks, created by students, who studied Canadian
personalities, reflects the rich character of the
human face.
