The ArtStarts Showcase is a 3-day performing arts showcase
and conference for arts programmers interested in
booking performances for young audiences (April 1,
2, 3 2009). The Showcase takes place every spring
at the Roundhouse Community Centre in downtown Vancouver.
Over three days, more than
40 artists and groups from across Canada, from a variety
of disciplines and cultural traditions, perform sample
presentations of their current touring shows. A question
period follows each presentation, and delegates have
opportunities to talk with artists informally at breaks
and receptions.
This
showcase is one of the most important events in arts
programming for young audiences in Western Canada.
Delegates include BC School District arts contacts,
school representatives, and community arts programmers,
all of whom book touring performers into schools and
theatres in their communities.
Each delegate receives the
print version of the ArtStarts Artists Directory,
with detailed information about the performers and
their shows and other useful information about ArtStarts.
